Sony has finally updated the PS2 figures on their "Business Data & Sales" page. PS2 sell-in (shipped) data now says, "More than 160.0 million (As of March 31, 2012)." PS2 was discontinued at the very beginning of 2013.

Interesting enough this is the exact same date as when it said, "More than 155.0 million."

Wasn't the 155M as of march 2012 shipped numbers ? or were sell in ? Since now it says those are sold.

Sony sold "more than 155 million units" to costumers till march 2012. This is there they changed tracking "shipped" to sold. Sony shipped 155,1 million units as of march 2012. Thats fact. People asumed, th PS2 did SHIP 158- 159 million back then because also we thought the difference must be quite high, as consoles that old do not sell that well anymore. Many people forgot that the final number they announced as "shipped" was 155,1 million. IF it was 155,1 million SOLD that would have been a bot different. 158/159 million to 160/161 million wouldn't be that sort of a stretch, but 155,1- 160 or even 162 million what reddit asumed would be. It would also make PS3 numbers false the more they add to PS2 even strenghen the chances it did not catch the XBox 360 wich was at 84 million in june 2014 alone! As we know they lumped PS3 and PS4 together. So: 155,1 million SHIPPED vs more than 155 million sold makes the difference between shipped and sold  less than 100k. Are you with me? No way in hell Sony shipped another 5- 7 million units in a timeframe of 10 months! This number stinks independent what Sony says. And they should take care and prevent a tax investigation. About the PS4's total of 117,2 million after discontinuation: Wait 5- 10 years when they "suddenly" announce in lying...ähm loving memory of 119,69 million sold PS4s.🤣
