I think the question is flawed.
OP is asking about IPs. But IP does not make a game, gameplay does.
This is evident with in particular the Mario IP that from the top of my head can be found in:
- Different sport games
- Olympics
- Tennis
- Football (not he American variety)
- Golf
- Baseball
- Puzzle games
- 2D and 3D platformers
- Racing
- Fighting
- RPG
- Board game
Gamers need to stop obsessing about IPs and focus more on game play and mechanics.
