I think, just personal opinion, console people should stop viewing gaming in generations. It doesn't feel like generations exist in PC and consoles are moving towards a more PC like situation. Over in the PC people have wildly different setups but we are playing the same games. If you think ps5 games in the ps4 is bad, it will only be worse with ps6 games on the ps5. Game engines are easily scaled. Generations in the old sense are dead. |
I hate to say it but consoles games usually have been the ones to set the standards where video games go. Crisis being the exception that blew everything out the water. The majority of big budget games have been on console first. When i say generation , i'm talking like an evolution leap of standards or experiences that's only possible on the console.
In regards to ps5/ps6, they will be almost similar in terms of both having an ssd and how you develop games. Ps4 games have been holding back ps5 titles because you can't design a game to take full advantage of the ssd and then scale back for ps4. Yeah you can just use the ssd to makes games load faster. But i'm talking game design that is made with the ssd in mind, not just for loading. so ps6 won't be held back by ps5 in this regard. This is why we haven't seen games utilize the ssd in ways but for a rare few titles on ps5, because they didn't have to worry about the ps4.
