Nintendo performs well with a hardware and software lineup that appealed to the general Japanese populace, became extremely popular, from that people put unreasonable expectations for 3rd party to equal such performance despite the fact they don't sale their games on the same dynamic Nintendo does.

Of course, contrary to what's being said by one/two person, 3rd party games can do well here. 

How is this a silly debate? can you name one big ip that exploded in japan other then splatoon from Nintendo in the last 10-12 years.

Just last year Suika Game, a third party IP, became the most downloaded Switch game of the year, beating even Tears of the Kingdom and Mario Bros Wonder.

The Momotaro games, also third party, have exploded on Switch in the last few years.

Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero were big hits in Japan too.
