I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way as well, i feel like there's way more are choices for everyone now. These preferences are so subjective that it really doesn't matter in the end. There are many people that just like to play games on easy mode and not get a challenge or wanna use their brain and just see the story while enjoying the beautiful world i think that's not what makes a good game but in the end it's their preference.
all you have to do is look at games sales and compare and see how much quality games are selling compared to 7th gen.
