Automata wasn't a new IP; the original Nier game was a 7th gen IP. And as Mar1217 says, lesser graphics doesn't change the fact that those IP debuted on PS3/360. I actually played Evil Within on 360 and found it to be a good experience. And being an FPS or TPS alone doesn't guarantee success; in fact the more crowded the market the harder it is to stand out and beat the competition. And there were plenty of 7th gen new IPs that were not FPS/TPS; Bayonetta, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Assassin's Creed, Souls, Wii Sports, Nier, Motorstorm, Puppeteer, etc. |
Evil within was a 27-30fps on ps4 on 360 it was solid 20fps.
All those games mentioned were very small budgets and hardly even big hits, 8th gen changed that with God of War and fromsoftware games.
