It's entirely safe to do run the Switch at a higher clocked, thousands of people have done it for years, Mariko models don't even hit 50% fan speed on the when at full clock. 

Nintendo themselves was likely going to allow it, but then axed the 4K features from the OLED model. Has nothing to do with safety, it's about Switch 2. 

But in terms of comparing to a PS3 hardware, Switch 1 is far beyond that. 

LOL so nintendo didn't allow better performance on switch 1 for their nextgen  system coming in 5 years. that just proves that nintendo is anti consumer and holding back their systems on purpose. Reality is probably they did testing and the systems would have a much higher fail rate.
