Context is key; Wonder arrived late in the system's life, during a time when people are struggling to make rent and afford groceries much less buy luxuries like games. It also has stronger competition than any 2D Mario has faced before; of the games you mentioned for instance Minecraft and Mario Kart are among the highest selling titles ever, and Smash is a 30 million plus seller.

It has moved over 13 million copies in under 6 months, it's selling great and the amount of constant downplaying it gets here is silly, especially since its the same 2 or 3 people doing it out of some weird grudge.

I remember bringing all these points up before. Yea if was in early switch life cycle this would have done much better I think around mario odyssey numbers. Like look at botw  and totk. Games will be more front loaded and have much lesser legs at the end of a cycle.

It's legs so far are good, it's still charting after 7 months with no sign of stalling. Nothing about its trajectory thus far indicates a problem.
