There has been news that Nintendo will be having mini presentations to showcase the Successor, just like how they advertised the Super Mario Bros. Movie. So expect to see more news for the Successor throughout this FY.

President Furuwaka says it will be challenging to reach 13.5M, that is rather interesting. We will see some major marketing this second half of the FY, and some major changes to the Switch either in the looks of a price cut, bundles, or a new revision.

This is just pure speculation and personal wants, but if Nintendo is truly trying to get multiple Switchs in the same house they need to do any of the following:

  • Provide free local network cross play between Switch units
  • Provide cheaper NSO
  • Provide more games that lean heavy into local network and/or NSO
  • Provide more new Switch designs, or release old ones.

Cheaper NSO ... the family plan is already very cheap.  You get 8 members for 35 a year.  Hell I'm pretty sure someone from VGC is still getting free online for their switch from my Family plan.

If anything it would be nice if they found a better way to share software (it would be a good way to push digital).  It sucks that I have to spend $180 for 3 members of my household to participate in a Splatfest together ...

I've been on an ex-coworker's family plan for six years and running, and I can guarantee you he hasn't touched his Switch in at least five. I don't know if he's unaware that the subscription is still on his bank account, or if he looks at it and doesn't care because it's a cheap gesture for a few friends.

I haven't really dabbled into local network multiplayer, but is LAN play not a thing? It wasn't a problem for 3DS, so I'd imagine it wouldn't be for Switch. Not even going to comment on Nintendo allowing shared software, might as well get a lottery ticket while I'm at it.
