It's very unlikely. There's definitely a slowdown in Switch sales, and without a price cut I cannot see another 20m in its engine. Few things against it:
- Lack of first party games: SMBW and ToTK seem to be its last big games
- Showing its age: I know Hogwarts legacy was ported recently, and it is an amazing feat but the graphical comparisons with newer systems versions highlights a huge gap. The Switch can barely handle a PS4 game (even after massive graphical downgrades) and in 2024 a lot of customers will have an issue with that
- Switch 2 rumours: it's no secret we will see its release this year
- Price point: I think at current price it's no longer cheap. Again with its age showing and the fact you can get a console like XBS for the same price or cheaper makes the Switch less appealing
- Slowing sales: 2023 saw a significant drop in sales and this with one of its most anticipated games of all time being released. I think 2024 sales will plunge
All of the above suggest that the Switch will fall short. Obviously the Switch has proven a lot of people wrong before, including myself. I still think the chances are very low.
