Like others said, that's not U.S. sales. That's shipments for the whole region. The actual final NPD sales figures for those systems are:

NDS: 53.5M
PS2: 46.7M
NSW: ~43M

The 360's numbers were apparently revised by the NPD Group at some point, as existing monthly numbers add up to 43,258k, more than the roughly 43M the Switch is sitting at. The estimates for the Switch are apparently pretty spot-on, so the actual figure for the 360 has to be under 43M. The July report indicated that as of that month the Switch was under a million behind the 360, which the estimates for the Switch at the time had it pegged at a bit over 41.8M, meaning the 360 had to have sold only 42.8M at most, which in turn means the old monthly numbers add up to a figure that overtracked the 360's lifetime numbers by no less than ~460k. The Switch was also stated to be less than 5M behind the PS2, which is consistent with the 46.7M figure.

Sorry, I'll go review my work. Thanks!

I was finding record for the DS being
NDS:52.78M
I based it on https://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41637/USA/
Any weekly video game chart after Dec 28th 2013 doesn't have any DS hardware numbers. But the DS would sell until May 20th 2014 so I trust 57.92M

The weekly charts for VGChartz are out of date it is better to use the hardware tool: https://www.vgchartz.com/tools/hw_date.php

VGChartz current estimates put the DS in the USA at 53.8m by the end of 2013. The DS only shipped 0.04m units after December 31st 2013 so 53.8m can be taken as the lifetime sales estimate.

57.92m is the sales in NA, which includes Canada. It is not just USA.

Americas (North & South America) - 59.93m (Nintendo figures as of March 31st 2014)
North America - 57.92m (VGChartz Estimate)
USA - 53.8m (VGChartz estimate)
