We’re all still waiting for evidence of upward momentum. |
In September 1994, the Final Fantasy series had a total of around 11.5 million cumulative sales, the overwhelmingly large majority of which were domestic sales in Japan.
11 years later, in September 2005 the Final Fantasy series had a total of 60 million cumulative sales, meaning in 11 years there were around 50 million games of the Final Fantasy series sold .
A little over 10 years later, in December 2015 the Final Fantasy series had a total of over 115 million cumulative sales, so in a little over 10 years of time there were around 55 million games of the Final Fantasy series sold.
Last month, in June 2023, it was announced that the Final Fantasy series had a total of over 180 million cumulative sales, which means in a period 7.5 years there were around 65 million games of the Final Fantasy series sold.
Would you say then, that there is upward global momentum of the Final Fantasy series, especially with the tail of FF16 and FF7R II on the horizon?
