Yea the NPC problem is not that bad in small open world game like blooborne/sikero but in a massive open world game it's a problem, and really some guided quests could have added more to the story/characters and gameplay variety. As for the story even when watching videos i still struggle to explain it to someone. The fingers, the Erdtree and why am i'm killing these demigods lol. I guess i just think of it like this, the queen used the Elden ring powers to remove death and that ended up making the world a living hell and its your job to get the elden ring and restore the world to normal order i guess. |
I think one of the worst offenders is you cannot get some texts more than one time. Sometime the NPC gives you clues about the quests and History and if miss them puff, it's gone. It's so unforgiving, I love it lol
Basically, you're a tarnished. One of the ones who lost the Grace of the Eldtree and banished from the lands in between. The NPCs you find on the round table hold, the hub of the game, lead by Gideon are almost all tarnished like Rogier, Fia, Roderika, etc
The demigods are the bearers of the fragments of the Elden Ring. After Queen Marika, the Eternal, got crazy because her first son and heir, prince Godwyn, The Golden, was murdered she broken the Elden Ring. Because of that nobody can die anymore. Your mission as a tarnished is to beat the bearers of the rings, some of them being Marika children, and to become the Elden Lord, which is kind of the consort of Queen Marika, and restore the world.
The fingers are manifestation of the will of the outer gods, there many of them and each of them wants a different thing for the lands in between. The 2 fingers specifically are manifestation of the Great Will, one of the demigods which wants to restore queen Marika as the ruler of the lands. Many of the side quests of the game is to swore allegiance to other factions/gods, which can lead to alternative endings
