I'm playing on a 2017 Switch with the day 1 patch and it's running fine for me.
Using Ultrahand in a highly detailed and busy area can causes dips, but given the slow paced nature of this feature, it's not a big deal.
Exploration and combat run consistently.

Much as I enjoy Digital Foundry, I feel like it, and just console war propaganda, have fostered a somewhat unhealthy obsession with graphics/performance among gamers.

I wouldn't call it unhealthy.

Digital Foundry has certainly provided a valuable service to gamers as many developers rush out buggy and low-framerate games as of late... It's our money on the line remember.

There are frame drops in tears of the kingdom, but it's also not a twitch-shooter so it's impact is far less pronounced... But was also something that was present in Breath of the Wild also.

Don't get me wrong, I like DF and they do a good job of pointing out when games perform badly so that people are aware, so I agree there.

I just feel like a lot of folks can take it too far, like writing off a game as subpar just because it has framerate dips, or putting more emphasis on pixel count than on gameplay, leading to situations where you have a game like TOTK and some people will reduce its entire worth to just its performance metrics. (Not you, OP)
