SNES also kept going even after the N64 released. Post replacement it still got games like Donkey Kong Country 3, Kirby's Dreamland 3, and Harvest Moon. Later home consoles from them were pretty much over from the moment they were replaced.

Even longer in Japan, where some additional RPGs came out after the N64. In 1999 they had Wizardry and Fire Emblem.

I believe the Super Famicom Fire Emblem game there was a download only game ... Nintendo sold blank SFC cartridges (Game Boy too) that could store multiple games and download from a kiosk in convenience stores.

The funny thing about that is I think that could've been the solution to the whole N64 CD/cartridge debate ... they should've bit the bullet and included a CD-ROM drive (even a cheap 2X speed one) to let them maintain their 3rd party support, but with a cartridge slot + blank cartridge, you could still have games like Mario 64 and even have a setup where CD games could stream data onto the flash cartridge and also cut down on loading times that way.
