Just curious, who provided the data for that chart? Microsoft? Or are those the numbers provided by Sony and Nintendo themselves?

These numbers are taken from the Sony/Nintendo fiscal year explanatory/supplemental information releases.

Sony reported total and 1st party software for the last 3 fiscal years but only total software before that.

Nintendo report total software and then report first party sales for games that sold at least 1m in that fiscal year. Hence the Nintendo 1st/3rd party numbers being greater than and less than. As there'll be 1st party games that sold under 1m that year that aren't included in the 1st party figure in the table.

For the latest releases:

Sony - FY21_4Q_Supplemental (sony.com) (Page 9)

Nintendo - 220510_6e.pdf (nintendo.co.jp) (Total software on Page 10, 1st party on Page 17)

Kinda wild how the Nintendo's highest software sales year still isn't as high as Sony's lowest software year (going back to 2018). Guess 3rd party sales do matter.
