I can't help but look at Lanz's behavior, and being a tall dark badass, and think of Reyn from the first game.

In itself the archetype of the tall badass "meathead" best friend is typical of the medium but they enjoy quite different personalities and arcs thankfully so they don't retread much of the same ground.
