Just Finished: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5)

I guess it helps that the open world and map were already built and that Insomniac developed this alongside the Spider-Man remaster. It is a great mini-sequel to the first game. It is really easy to pick up and play. The game is gorgeous and runs like a dream in performance mode. The story is a rollercoaster and is epic in its own scope without overshadowing what came before. The game does a great job of making Miles feel like an equally important Spider-Man rather than a secondary character. Miles added Venom and Camouflage powers add a bit of differentiation to the gameplay. The sidequests and extra stuff are well designed and fun to play. The game was short but not too short to feel insubstantial. It is a great launch title for the PS5 (cross gen though it may be). I completed the game 100% without expending too much effort. After a break I may start it again on New Game + in order to make it one of the few games I ever platinum. Now this has set a high bar for Spider-Man 2. I will be curious to see how the devs balance the game between 2 character and expand on the established storylines. One fear is that we may have seen enough of Manhattan at this point so I am hoping they will add Brooklyn as a playable are in the next game. With great power comes great gameplay.
