GamePass increasing in price and the multi year sub loopholes being closed are both things everyone should have expected to be coming. All of these streaming service start out cheap and with deep deals to get people subscribed and then they go up in price. An ad supported tier is also something multiple streaming services offer. The only question is whether they make the service worth the cost.

Yes that's how they work. My problem with it is it opens the door to introduce adds before and into games. You can't just do that with full price games, see the well deserved backlash GT7 got for putting MTX in a full priced release. This way you get people to accept (more) ads and before you know it it will be in between multiplayer matches etc. "Please wait for players getting ready" will be please wait for lower tier subscriptions to watch their ads...

MS rewards is already a way to get GP cheaper by driving up ad revenue for MS. But this is a more "convenient" way while opening Pandora's box and push commercials into PC/console gaming. That ad revenue from mobile gaming looks delicious.

So the question for me is not, do they make the service worth the cost. It's more, what will it do to the future of gaming. Always online with ads... Can't even unplug anymore to get rid of them.

Anyway it will still be a few months to see how it will affect Netflix

Thus the prophecy of doomed spelled, the hearers have yet to realize what perilous offer they accepted.

Anywoo, at least we'll all be there in less than 5 years  telling everyone else the old classic "told ya so !"
