The DS one is also funny, people make it seem like Nintendo had some master plan with that, but it was basically really Yamauchi demanding something new to sell in a hurry because Sony had announced the PSP and demanding 2 screens for basically no functional reason that even Iwata thought was a dumb idea, lol. 

And only one who insisted NES to be released outside Japan was Yamauchi - and nobody at Nintendo wanted Wii to be released, except the suits. I think there might be a pattern.
