I never quite expected the impact The Legend of Heroes games would end up having on me when I was looking around for some new JRPG to play on Steam almost a decade ago now. I stumbled upon the first Trails in the Sky, played it, and absolutely fell in love with the characters, story, setting, and just about everything else the game had to offer. Since then I've played through seven different games in the series, it has become one of my favourite video game series of all time, third only to Final Fantasy and Dark Souls as it happens, and every new game in it is always high on my most anticipated games list. They simply struck a chord with me in a way that very few other games have ever done, and this is the weakest game in the series in my opinion.

If I'd have to pick what makes this the weakest game in the series, it probably has the most to do with its setting, being more confined and restricted than in other the other games, as the characters are trapped in a separate dimension within a magical object. As a result, in a lot of ways this game has the least overall impact on the grander story that runs through all these games out of them all, though there are still a lot of details and information you learn about important events and people that build up the overarching story. Still, even with all that, this is still a continuation of a story that revolves around some of my favourite video game characters, with great gameplay and music to go along with that. Not much more I could ask really.
