I kind of randomly popped Silent Hill in there. It's a great survival horror game according to many, but I don't believe it's sold millions of copies.
I'm actually really disappointed from what I've seen in RE5. More like an action zombie shooter than the traditional RE...and the daylight really kills the atmosphere. I hope most of the game isn't in that light.
It would be nice to have someone pull up some numbers on the Fatal Frame series, it might give us an idea as to how well the new one will sell. The Wii does have a smaller user-base than the PS2...but we can probably find a good guess.
They don't have to sell in the millions to warrant a sequel, but warranting a sequel doesn't necessarily mean it's not a niche title. =P
And if people consider MGS4 a niche title with all those sales...well I really don't know what a niche title means anymore.
