But that isn't really what this is about. It is essentially about Disney buying an existing show that falls under the DC banner (but not part of the DCEU).

Like, yeah, the MCU has some good stuff in it, but it also has a lot of flaws, many of which come from the sameness of it all. We need more diversity in comic book movies, and whether or not DC has the best track record, when I watch a DC movie, they often don't feel like Marvel movies and that is very much a good thing. Disney needs to keep their hands away from DC.

Also, the show is led in part by Bruce Timm, who is one of the most influential and important individuals in the history of superhero TV. 

Overall ramifications on the industry aside, I think the point is who would and could step in and save this property. While intuitively it seems that any company should be able to print money with Batman, that doesn't seem to be the case. Whether it's good or bad for the industry Marvel seems like the ones who would most be able to make it work. 

Think of it this way, if Smith had named ANY other company, would this thread exist? The idea of Marvel doing a Batman show is so attention grabbing itself that it would almost guarantee success.
