I am definitely seeing plenty of Series S available whenever I go to any shop that sells consoles. (I live in the US.) PS5 is still very hard to find, but based on scalping prices, I think supply is close to meeting demand. I don't expect shortages in the US to last much longer for PS5.
What I am really interested in seeing is if XBox will adapt their strategy somewhat and start to produce more Series X systems. XBox really wants people to get Gamepass, and the Series X is kind of against that strategy. At the same time, the market is saying that it still wants more systems with a disc drive included. If they make more Series X, then they will probably outcompete PS5 in the US by a good margin, but it goes against their Gamepass strategy. Or they may just keep Series X scarce and double down on the Gamepass strategy, but then PS5 will get more market share in the US.
It will be interesting to see what XBox does next.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
