Switch is currently tracking significantly behind DS, launch aligned, but it is also tracking significantly ahead of PS2. Of course the former system had the worst legs of any successful system while the latter had the best legs. Switch really only needs decent legs to outsell both. It doesn't need a tail end like the PS2 to outsell the PS2. However, it does need a tail end better than the DS to outsell the DS, and that is actually not that difficult.
The DS is basically impossible to outsell before the tail end years anyway. It's the only system to have 30m+ fiscal years.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
