We're officially at the Halfway Point of 2022 and now is the time to take a look at where sales stand and where they would be at the end of the year if they continue at their pace compared to last year!

PlayStation 5:

Worldwide @ 26 weeks: 3.87/5.32 million = 72.9%;
Projected Final 2022 Total: 9,172,073 units (US - 3,135,137; EU - 3,727,011; JP - 733,586; ROTW - 1,576,339)

Xbox Series:

Worldwide @ 26 weeks: 3.8/2.9 million = 113.4%;
Projected Final 2022 Total: 11,340,210 units (US - 5,105,160; EU - 3,657,559; JP - 129,813; ROTW - 2,447,678

Nintendo Switch:

Worldwide @ 26 weeks: 7.9/10.6 million = 74.7%;
Projected Final 2022 Total: 18,626,830 units (US - 5,985,880; EU - 4,973,375; JP - 4,090,175; ROTW - 3,577,400)

I know these are estimates, but it is interesting that XBox is tracking ahead of PS5 by that much.  It looks like XBox will end the year ahead of PS5 by a good margin.  I figured that XBox would end up beating PS5 in the US, but they are doing better worldwide this year.

Microsoft was better equipped to handle the shortages and supply issues brought about by Covid thanks to the Series S. As a result, it has allowed them to gain considerable momentum against to Sony because casual shoppers are buying the more readily available next Gen system.
