I think that would be something like that. while the momentum really went up for Microsoft, they are still not at Sony's level but they are getting there.

The Series S is really paying off for Microsoft, being able to produce more boxes is key right now. They did not plan it obviously but this is really turning very well for them.

100%! But....I am a little concerned about the long term though. How will Series S hold up with time? I have a feeling Series S was the biggest reason why FSR 2.0 is going to be fully supported on Xbox. So the Series S doesn't drag the Series X down as the years go by.

Developers make games based on what will sell well, and what will sell well depends on hardware limitations in the market. The fact that Switch exists bodes well for Series S, just like Series S existence helps Switch, and Switch 2 will be even more of a partner with Series S because they will be close in power, I think. Having two popular devices/iterations close in power will only further encourage developers to make their games well optimized on those lower powered devices.

If anything, I'd be concerned with how limited games are going to be on more powerful hardware simply because it isn't selling as well as it would be on PS5/Series X if the lowered powered hardware sold worse.
