lol, said no one ever.

The only thing out of date with Goldeneye are the graphics, which can be said of many early 3D games, and the use of the c-buttons rather than having a second analog stick. The gameplay is still absolutely killer. If Goldeneye got added to Switch with online deathmatch it would instantly be the most played game on Switch's online service. Goldeneye is a timeless classic that never gets old. Still one of the best deathmatch games available.

You equate overrated with bad. GE07 was good at the time but aged rapidly mechanically. Even in that generation let alone the ones that followed. Final Fantasy VII a game I love it vastly overrated as well. Overrated doesn't mean bad. Just nostalgia is a rose colored and we make things out to be better than they are. Easy to look over flaws and what has come out since that has improved on gameplay. People like you tend to look at these games as if nothing has changed since their release.

By that logic, every single old game that exists in a genre with modern equivalents is overrated because time, technology and mastery of the medium allows new games that are merely decent to often be better than masterpieces of decades ago. At this point, every single FPS worth your time should be better than GoldenEye, and every 3D platformer should be better than BK, not counting nontechnical factors like plot and presentation. The only things that aren't overrated are... Seaman? Cubivore? Odama? Vib Ribbon?

They are rating these games just fine. No one in here is claiming that quarter-century old N64 games stand up to modern greats like A Hat in Time or Insert FPS Here.
