To be honest I do not think it will pass the PS2

It is hard to say right now. I'd say it has a 50/50 chance. It will likely sell around 20 million this year and another 15 million in 2023 to bring lifetime sales to around 135-140 million. 2022 Switch lineup looks solid, while we don't know the 2023 lineup. It also depends when the Switch successor releases. 2023? 2024? 2025?

Yeah of course it depends on when the next Nintendo console arrives and if it is BC or not and/or if Nintendo continues to make the Switch after that release.

It could if they had a price cut. Remember the PS2 was able to hit the $99 price point near the end of it's run. I don't think Switch will ever get that cheap but they havent really had a price drop since release. Only a cheaper model that doesnt exactly "switch".

PS2 had 2 things in it's favor to reach those numbers. The first one was that it initially was a reasonably priced DVD player. The second was the catastrophic launch of the PS3 at a way to high price point. This extended the life of PS2.

Also regarding price point it does not make sense from a business standpoint to drop the price that much on the switch if a successor is on the way unless there is a residual stock that Nintendo wants to get rid of. Better to just kill the Switch and focus on the successor.

Is it impossible for Switch to pass PS2 and DS? No.

Do I personally think it will do it? Most probably No.
