While I agree with your post, it's not entirely true. Yes there is no cliff, just the downwards slope, I believe the switch will sell more in japan 2022 then the ps5 will sell lifetime in japan by the end of 2022, there are still a lot of games that are coming to playstation that usually do well The atelier games, almost everything by Squeenix, the trials of cold steel and ys games retain a timed exclusivity, senran kagura and the nepu games, I bet my butt that dragon quest 12 will be on playstaion and sell better due to being timed exclusive and let's not forget about elden ring and future monster hunter games, resi evil, devil may cry and visual novels do quite well. Like I kept telling the Sony fans who were hellbent on spreading the rumour that the switch was a failed console that will sell less then the wii u. Let's not count Sony out juuuuuust yet |
I don't think the Atelier games have had timed exclusivity in years:
Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland
| Nintendo Switch PlayStation 4 Microsoft Windows | JP: 2019-03-20 | NA: 2019-05-21 | EU: 2019-05-24 |
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream
| Nintendo Switch PlayStation 4 Microsoft Windows | JP: 2022-02-24 | WW: 2022-02-25 |
Atelier Ryza 2 was announced as getting a PS5 release, but I couldn't find any evidence of a retail version actually ever releasing. So, I think the only way to play it on PS5 is from the PS4 copy or the digital PS4 version in the PlayStation Store that is listed as PS4/PS5? There was no announcement at all of the upcoming Atelier Sophie 2 game getting a PS5 release. So, that will probably be handled the same way? Which is somewhat telling in itself that they still see a physical release on a platform that will probably be discontinued sooner rather than later as more viable than releasing on the PS5 which is already in its 2nd year on the market and therefore where you would normally want to shift your audience over to.
