Looking at other system is actually way more relevant than you think.

The problem is the bandwidth, that's the most limiting part of the Switch's hardware. And to reach level of performance when you can actually deliver 60fps in an open world, a mobile SoC still doesn't cut.

Yes the Apple M1 chip can now deliver 200Gb/s, but that's way more expensive than anything we can actually expect from a Switch 2.

I would instantly buy a console edition, even if the only difference is always running at full speed, docked mode. However I would also pay for a premium version where everything is doubled CPU, bandwidth, GPU and a nifty SSD for storage. Dunno why Nintendo is ignoring the "just want to play on a tv" crowd. I never use the switch in handheld mode.

I don't think they ignore them (for eg Bowser's Fury runs at 60fps on TV but at 30 on handheld mode), it's just that what was still acceptable early 2017 isn't anymore late 2021 I guess.

But I still enjoy a lot of my Switch games that other people call "shit looking"
