Just about everybody I know who saw it didn't like it, a couple of them even said it is the worst movie they have ever seen, worse even than The Last Jedi, though others said it is decent at least, unlike The Last Jedi which is actively offensive to the classic fanbase.

I'm kind of glad it is flopping at the box office (losing to both Spider-Man and Sing 2), hopefully means they won't make a 5th one that further damages the legacy of the original trilogy.

This is stupid, there's nothing in the Matrix Resurrections that undoes or really even undermines anything from the previous Matrix movies.

The Last Jedi was controversial because it radically altered the character of Luke Skywalker primarily and then

Spoiler!
killed off Snoke and gave an answer to Rey's parentage that people weren't expecting.

Resurrections is not really controversial in that way. Neo is still Neo he needs time to get his mojo back, Trinity is still Trinity.

There's even a literal scene in the movie here Neo is reminded that everything he did in the first 3 movies had a massive impact.

Instead of watching like the 800th Marvel movie, I mean watch it and make your own opinion. Is it going to be as good as the first Matrix? No way, but no blockbuster movie post 1999 is, LOTR trilogy and Mad Max maybe come closest. It's about on par with Reloaded and Revolutions, I would say I like this one better even if the action is not as good, the ideas are more interesting. But yes it is meta-aware as fuck, but I think that works and even makes sense in the Matrix.
