I already mentioned some of the more drastic differences between a game's metascore and my opinion of the game, but I guess I could mention a few that I think are just slightly off, so less than 10 points difference in score from how I would rate them.

  • Too high:
    • Breath of the Wild - Still a great game (it's in my top 50 games list), but 97 is too high in my opinion. I would probably rate the game at a 9/10, so obviously an excellent game, just not one of the absolute greatest games ever.
    • Super Mario Odyssey - Somewhat similar thing here. Still an excellent game, but I wouldn't rate it quite as high as the average review score is.
    • Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid V - Both titles deserve lower scores. MGS2 for its overly convoluted plot that tries way too hard to be clever, and MGSV for being essentially half-a-game. Take around 5 points off from both scores and they are fairly close to accurate. MGS4 maybe as well. MGS1 and 3 can keep their high scores though.
  • Too low:
    • Suikoden 2 - Has a score in the low 80s, should be in the high 80s.
    • Enslaved: Odyssey to the West - Also in the low 80s, deserves more for its story and characters alone.
    • Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom - Not a great game by any means, but the 72 metascore is a little bit low in my opinion. Lacks polish and is a little bit clunky, but the charm of the story and the core characters deserve a few more points, perhaps somewhere around 75-78.
