Launch aligned as of these numbers:
Nintendo DS Week 247 = August 23rd 2009 So Switch is currently 5.4m units behind DS. It will be very tough to recover that ground, but not impossible. It did gain 0.1m back this week though have to bare in mind the comparison is pokemon launch week in November to some random August week for DS lol. It really comes down to how much switch sales drops next year, and when the successor launches. There's no doubt Switch 2022 will be a lot better than DS 2010 and the gap will be closing continually but I'm not convinced it will be able to close it completely before it is replaced. |
Switch will catch and beat DS eventually, this console has legs like no other Nintendo console before it.
