Heh. Gilga's Post Your Mind thread is dead.

Nintendo would never farm their arguably biggest IP to a third party. That said, what if they at least collaborated (a la Mario RPG) with one? In which direction should Nintendo go, JRPG or WRPG? If so, which developer should they go with?

For JRPG, from From Software, Square, Platinum, Sega, Atlus

For WRPG, from Bethesda, BioWare, Eidos to CD Projekt Red:

What if Nintendo went all out and release JRPG generation transition of the child/young adult link, and one WRPG as the young adult/adult link, or vice versa?

What if?!

In this scenario, what I'd like is as follows:

Darksouls-like game from FromSoftware. You play as Ganon/Demise the whole time. You've just been defeated by Link and have to regain your power and dominance over your former minions by beating various bosses into submission. Once you've conquered them all, the end is you getting back to the land of the living in Hyrule to wage war once again (that would be the epilogue, you wouldn't actually wage the war yet as this game would be about an evil character fighting other evil creatures to gain their allegiance again).

For the other game, how about CD Projekt Red making a game set in the same universe as Metroid. You play a new bounty hunter and have to rise to the ranks of elite bounty hunting by fighting criminal underlings/overlords/monsters on some multi-level, Coruscant-like world. Lots of cutscenes, story driven game, questionable decisions you have the option to make (no sex as this is a Nintendo game). Ends with you hearing about a bounty on a new target, one that is a legend in the bounty hunting world; Samus.
