None of it had anything to do with Tales of Arise because the game performed according to the consensus in the MC threads.

That you bring up MHW is a sign of the victim complex that is carried around by a good chunk of the PS userbase. For every example where the Nintendo userbase sold a PS product short, you can find at least two examples of a Nintendo product being sold short by the PS userbase. ResetEra is the place where a ton of people were seriously convinced that Final Fantasy VII Remake would sell more than Animal Crossing: New Horizons globally. Another obvious example is the Switch console as a whole, so don't bother pretending that the PS userbase has it hard. The PS userbase is constantly trying to put others down which is exactly why the MC threads on Era were bugging them so much, because they showed a very different reality from what they would like to believe in; Sony isn't an unquestioned market leader in the console business. Far from it, as the fiscal year ending 2022 marks the fifth year in a row with Nintendo selling the most consoles.

Lastly, even if it were true that 99% of the MC threads were useless discussions, now there are certainly even less useful posts in the threads, so you can't claim a win here either.

PS4 is the one console that has done 5 years (2014,2015,2016,2017,2018)

SW has (2019,2020,2021). 2022 is iffy, PS5 is estimated to sell 23M. Def not going to reach PS4 5 years for sure.

Also, basic industry analysis, revenue is what measures marketshare.

Playstation has been number 1 since 2013, maybe even before, and the others aren't even close.

At one point it made more money than Xbox and Nintendo combined. 2018, PSN made more money than the entirety of Nintendo.

Probably will happen sometime in this cycle again. PS estimates $30B revenue coming soon.

Most of those 5 years (2014-2017) the PS4 had next to no competition. It's easy to be the best-selling console if the competition fizzles out. Also, that's worldwide, while this thread is all about Japan. Here, the PS4 lead for 4 years if you generously count out the 3DS, while the Switch is in it's 5th year of total dominance there, and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon.

@bolded: Revenue? What good is high revenue when you still make losses (hello PS3!)? Profit is all that counts in that regard.

Also, leading since 2013? You really sure Playstation lead last year when sales of the PS4 were hemorrhaging quickly and the PS5 only started at the very end of it while the Switch got almost 30M sales, not even counting their other hardware revenues like the 3DS?
