And Nintendo does what Steam doesn't. I'm all for new hardware coming out, but the Deck seems like a huge waste of time and money. It feels like Valve saw the success of the Switch and decided to make something to try and get the same sales but has none of the charm or software.

Software library certainly isn't a problem for the Steam Deck.

Software isn't a problem for the Deck, but it also isn't a problem for the Switch either.  The Switch has Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Pikmin, Smash, Kart, etc.  As long as Nintendo produces quality software Nintendo isn't going anywhere.

Take a look at your argument, PC can play most of what the ps5 can play....  yet ps5 continues to sell because it has Ratchet, Returnal and Demon.  And it will be getting Horizon, God of War, etc.  Exclusives matter.  Nintendo has them, so they aren't going anywhere.
