These ~80:20 splits at retail have been a thing for years, long before AAA games were even thought to launch in Game Pass. Also what rumors had RE8 as a Game Pass title? If anything people thought it couldn't be because it was before launch that the news Sony BLOCKED the game from being a GP title came out https://gamerant.com/resident-evil-village-xbox-game-pass-sony-deal/ It's also interesting how at retail the splits go 80:20, but when digital is added the splits swing towards Xbox. Do you believe every single Japanese game just magically sells more on Xbox after week 1? Does this make sense to you, because you are arguing for this to be the case in order for digital to have no impact on the splits. Week 1 - ~50K Week 2 - ~20K Week 3 - ~8K Week 4 - ~5K When has that ever happened. Never. Digital is simply much higher on Xbox, by +10-20 points. |
The “rumour” about Sony blocking RE8 not to being on Gamepass is false and out of proportion. The only deal that Sony makes with the third parties (MS aswell), is to receive the best experience possible if the system allows it.
Also, is there any confirmation that digital sales are higher on Xbox than PS systems? The only article “confirming” this dates from 2019, when the digital sales on PS consoles were way lower than the physical counter part. But the trend changed drastically in 2020 and intensified in 2021.
