I agree, when the DLCs are priced right.  Good examples are TW3 and Mario Kart 8 (on Wii U).  There was appropriate value in those.  What I don't like it when there's (using hours of enjoyment only because it is easy to quantify) 75 hours of good content in the base game for $60, then a 6-8 hour DLC costs $20.  But, TW3 had huge pieces of content in those DLCs for something like $20 each, and Kart had good amounts of content for small price tags (I feel like it was $15 total for both, maybe $20.)
