So... in USA are supply constrained? Since when? May 2020? Two years?

I personally couldn't say for how long.  I've had my Switch since launch day March 3, 2017.  So, I only occasionally check availability in my area when I see it questioned here in the forums.  I will say that I live in a major metropolitan area, and whenever I have looked in the past year, the hybrid model has been hard to come by while the Lite is much easier to find.
