I wouldn’t consider it a true competition unless you include all 5 platforms.
Wii = 102M
DS = 154M
PS3 = 87M
360 = 84M
PSP = 82M
I’d say it’s a very slim chance this generation surpassing 509 million units, but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. It really depends on what Nintendo does. I think a new sort of Switch with some kind of must have feature could take the console way further than anyone right now thinks is possible. It really depends if the Switch successor is considered a new generation or part of the Switch 1 family.
