Wii benefitted from being much cheaper to develop for. Developing for the wii was closer to making a psp game then it was to making a 360/ps3 game. The control scheme also gave it reasom for exclusivity. portable mode has made developers less willing to build experiences around the joycons unfortunately.

Development for Switch should still be cheaper than PS/Xbox though as the level of graphical complexity is less. Rise most likely cost less to make than World for instance.

Also, said Switch games don't need to be AAA, it could also include AA stuff like Team Sonic Racing and Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair where it seems the Switch version was the lead.

No game needs to be what the internet calls  AAA. In most cases what internet calls AAA to me means bland and boring but pretty.

Focus on gameplay mechanics FIRST and sort story and visuals SECONDLY, and dare to do syalized graphics instead of ”realistic”. This is exactly why Nintendos games crush the competition on a single system.
