Lol, no it's not. There are plenty of Pokemon I don't care about, but that doesn't mean that they should be snapped out of existence. You wanting content removed from the series for no reason other than you personally don't care for it is selfish. Me wanting previously made content to remain available so everyone can have their cake is not.

I hate Rosalina in Smash and will never willingly select her as a playable character. Doesn't mean that I want her erased from the series just because I don't find her appealing to use. However my thoughts on  her, she adds value to the game by making it more appealing to others.

Unless this isn't a new game, nothing is being removed. For example, if there's an episode of a TV show, and certain recurring characters don't make an appearance, they're not removed, they're simply not being used.

Spare me your patronizing with semantics. Was half the roster missing from Sw/Sh for the first year or so? Yes. Was that half in the games code, where you could get them yourself through ways and means? No. Are there still Pokemon not coded into these games? Yes.

And I'll take your analogy and do you one better. What is the next "episode" after Sw/Sh? It doesn't exist yet. Right now, Sw/Sh is the latest game in the series, so there are no newer episodes in the show to determine whether a recurring character has been written off or not. So until that time comes, this is moot.

Smash's roster is not even close to the size of the Pokemon roster. The amount of work is substantially lower.

Lol, because characters in Pokemon games required as much work as in a fighting game such as Smash? It's 1:1, right? Tell me how much work do you think Pikachu required to animate in Sw/Sh (keeping in mind that the former ripped assets straight out of the 3DS games, so it's not like GF started from scratch) compared to Pikachu in Smash? And that's poster-boy Pikachu, who gets far more attention than just about anything. Some com-mon like Zigzagoon has what?A walking animation, a running animation, a battle entrance animation, a faint animation, and two attack animations. That's the equivalent of a Smash character's walking, dash and taunt animations. That's not even getting to all of the attacks, all of the hitboxes, all of the collision detection, all of the facial expressions when attacking or taking damage, all of the changes in animation when holding and using items and countless other things. And unlike Pokemon, all of these things are happening in real time. This comparison isn't even close, and I can't believe you'd say that the amount of work that goes into Smash is substantially lower merely going by roster size.

But OK, you want to a game series with a roster size comparable to Pokemon? How about an annualized series as well? I'll give you the NBA 2K series. Once you get past the IP now being a virtual casino simulator and MTX machine, there is far more work put into player animations, both common and unique for superstars, than just about any Pokemon. Yet you don't see Visual Concepts removing players from rosters. Sorry, I meant that those players are "simply not being used."

It's ridiculous to demand "I NEED ALL THE POKEMONS!" in each game that comes out. Especially when expanding out into other sub genres where they require new art and animations for every single pokemon they put in the game. Not to mention the massive QA and producer approval and other pipeline labour hour expansion.

Except it's not when all of the assets for these Pokemon exist and were clearly used. It's more ridiculous to shill for an out-of-touch developer that has one of the single most lucrative IPs in all of media, yet refuses to either learn to stop being coding noobs, expand the team and bring in more talent, or acquire the help of other studios to shore up weaknesses.

I don't care about side games, I'm talking about the bread n' butter mainline games.  You all treat GameFreak like its one guy doing all of the work in his garage, and he has to compose all of the music, write all of the characters, and do all of the marketing. GF and Creatures traced over their old work for Sw/Sh, yet you all act like they created everything from scratch, when it's been proven time, and time and time again that they didn't. When they actually try something different and possibly create assets from scratch, then I will give them a pass. Oh wait, what's that? Legend of Arceus? Awesome, I will give that a pass! Another tired ass, formulaic, mainline game in the vein of everything else they've done? Nope.
