I was looking for this thread recently. Glad to see it back on the first page.

@tbone51 I would be surprised if it doesn't reach 25 million by the end of the year. It only needs 2.15 million to reach 25m and didn't the game sell something like 5m in 2020? Obviously, I wouldn't expect it to sell another 5m in 2021, but I highly doubt it would drop to less than 2.15m. Probably going to pull in about 4m.

What's interesting is that I used to view 25m as the absolute max for what Smash Ultimate could achieve. It's very clear that the game's final total will be far above that. I think it will join the 30m club by the end of 2022 or early 2023, even if Nintendo doesn't release a Complete Edition of the game, containing all the DLC (which I'm sure will cost more than the base game, but I could see it being a bargain for people who still haven't picked up the game by then). Still, I do hope they are planning to release that after the DLC wraps up (so potentially as early as this year maybe).

I think Smash Ultimate even has a chance to reach 40m! What do you guys thunk SSBU's lifetime total will be when all is said and done?

Some games do better during different years if they are evergreens. SSBU could do better in 2021 than 2020 for example. That said 35mil lifetime + or - 2mil seems to be the range now.

same I have for BotW lol
