Brilliant and very enjoyable writeup, cheers for sharing.
Personally, while I feel it's a bit of a step down from the spectacular DKC2 in terms of characters, music, and atmosphere, I still consider DKC3 one of the best games on the SNES thanks to it retaining the tight controls, creative level design, and gorgeous rendered visuals of its predecessors.
I didn't love Kiddy, but I didn't hate him either. Dixie's awesomeness goes a long way towards balancing him out. There's a ton of content for a game of its era, and it very much feels crafted with love and talent. On a nice CRT, it still looks and plays like a dream to this day.
