I wouldn't be surprised if the moments where Fury Bowser appears on screen is when the game would tank the most in terms of performance, prolly why they locked the FPS to 30 in handheld.

There's also a chance the game had an unstable frame rate in general, but perhaps the Bowser transformation indeed made the game tank to the 30s-40s, so yeah, it could've played a big factor. 



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
