PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S vs Switch Sales Comparison Charts Through January 2

Here we see data representing the global sales through to consumers and change in sales performance of the five current platforms (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One) and two legacy platforms (Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita) over comparable periods for 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.  Also shown is the market share for each of the consoles over the same periods.

Year to Date Sales Comparison (Same Periods Covered)

Switch ended the year with 28.26m in hardware sales.  This does not beat the annual best selling system record set by the DS's best year (2008) of 29.66m.  However this does beat the record for annual home console sales set by the Wii (also 2008) of 24.19m.

Switch now has the top selling year for a home console!

Switch is not a home console

And even if you count Switch standard as a home console, you need to remove Lite sales first to count it as a home console
