According to this Quarter Estimates VGChartz has the following totals with two weeks remaining of the year.

  • Japan - 1.521.794
  • Mainland Asia & Middle East - 674.428

I anticipate the result between Japan and Mainland Asia & Middle East to actually end up a lot closer than what VGCharts is estimating. Right now at the very minimum I think Mainland Asia & Middle East have already surpassed 1 million for the quarter and probably closer to 1.25 million

Mainland Asia had seen huge growth in the previous half an year of over 150% according to Nintendo themselves and I anticipate the sales during the holiday to be very close to Japan. Every single week we know that Ring Fit and New Horizon continue to dominate the game charts in South Korea and Taiwan and this is the first full quarter for Ring Fit in China. Over 4 million of the Switch's Quarter sales will come from Japan & Asia.

Nintendo splits it's regions into Americas, Europe, Japan and Other(Mainland Asia, Oceania).

As we can see for the previous Quarter Other Region Achieved a very similar hardware result to Japan in 2019. Now for the final Quarter of the year Japan will seemingly be slightly up YoY from the early information we've gathered in terms of what to expect in Week 52 and Week 1 on Famitsu. While Japan is Flat the Other Region is likely to overtake Japan as the 3rd biggest market for Nintendo. With the main gains being made specifically in China, Taiwan, South Korea & other Asian markets Switch is expanding it's presence in. This is why I anticipate that hardware sales are severally under-tracked for Mainland Asia/Middle East.

Can't wait for the Nintendo financials, since this would definitely be huge news, as it's probably going to be the first time Japan is not one of their Top 3 Markets despite the huge sales.
