I have yet to see The Rise of Skywalker. I plan to, but I was mistakenly spoiled before watching it. It is the first Star Wars main series film I didn't watch in the theaters; I watched the remastered OT in theaters but am too young for the real OT release. After the backlash and basically undoing of certain aspects of The Last Jedi (which I liked a lot aside from the casino rubbish), I haven't been to keen on seeing it, although I know I will. Also have yet to watch the Han Solo spin off. Rogue One was alright but I guess I didn't enjoy it as many here and on the internets claim, because I barely remember it. It was serviceable and entertaining, but pretty unmemorable to the point that I have to google it to remember the main characters and scenes. And out of all of them, I probably liked the droid the most. I also haven't watched the Clone Wars show. I've heard good stuff about it, but the animation style is a turnoff.

As for the Mandalorian, I loved it. It was everything I wanted the prequel and sequel trilogies to be. It had fanservice but it still made it work for the story. It had CGI, but it still had a lot of practical effects, costumes and makeup. It had great action, but the over-the-top choreography of the PT was replaced with something more in the middle of it and the OT. All the fighting moves seemed like they were intended to accomplish something instead of just be flashy. There were good aircraft flight scenes, too. The characters were memorable. Mando was dope. Although he was very capable, he also had good help in plenty of guest characters (don't want to spoil so I won't go into too much depth). Although the villain played by Giancarlo Esposito was somewhat underutilized, but he seems more like a Tarkin character than Vader or Sidious, so it's understandable (not really a spoiler, just my opinion). Baby Yoda is probably the most memorable character this side of the OT (aside from maybe the notorious Jar Jar Binks, but he isn't exactly a meme for good reasons). Probably because he was adorable. I'm hoping his story develops into something special since his species can grow old so he'll be able to play some role after the ST.

I will say that if you're looking for lots of melodrama and exposition, you won't find it in The Mandalorian. That can be a good or bad thing depending on the type of Star Wars fan you are. I personally like all the different styles employed in the OT, PT, and ST, but I prefer the OT's simplicity and charm, and The Mandalorian follows that over the emo stuff in PT and ST and overkill in explaining things like midichlorians.
