TBH I don't think the price of a Nintendo system really matters in terms of how much it will sell in it's lifetime. When there's a strong desire for a Nintendo product people will go out and buy it no matter how much it costs. So I don't think it is as impressive that the Switch is selling this well just cause it's more expensive than the DS and I don't think a Switch price cut will do anything major.

Not once in Nintendo's history have we seen a price cut lead to multiple quarters of YoY growth aside from the Gamecube, but in the Gamecube's case it was a system struggling to get a consumers on board so a price cut would obviously incentivize many of those on the fence. It's not like the Switch where the desire for it is much stronger and people are willing to spend the 299$ to get it. The Wii's price cut still didn't change the fact it was declining.
